Random borough (9): It's time once again for me to take another random trip to one of London's 33 boroughs (I only do this once every three months, honest). Eight down, 25 to go. As I write I have no idea which name will be on the folded slip of paper I'm about to pick from the special jamjar that sits on the floor beside my computer. I could pick any of London's remaining boroughs - inner or outer, urban or suburban, tiny or vast, fascinating or dull. I just know it won't be Merton, Islington, Enfield, Sutton, Lewisham, Southwark, Kensington & Chelsea or Hackney because they're the eight (dark grey) boroughs I've picked out already. I've been 'lucky' with my last few selections - all fairly central, compact and packed with sights of interest. Maybe today I'll end up somewhere rather more distant, sprawling and commonplace. And I have yet to venture anywhere out west, or anywhere out east - surely today's the day? Or maybe not.
Once I've researched my randomly-chosen borough online I'll then head off and visit some of its most interesting places, assuming it has any. I hope (as usual) to visit somewhere famous, somewhere historic, somewhere pretty, somewhere retail, somewhere sporty and somewhere random. I'll probably take lots of photographs while I'm at it. I hope it's somewhere easy to travel, given that over half of London's tube lines are undergoing engineering work this weekend. Then after I've made my grand tour I'll come back tomorrow and tell you all about it. Let's see where I'm going this time...
