1) Strolled across the walkways at the top of Tower Bridge. I bet most Londoners haven't done that (I bet most Londoners don't even know it's possible). And, thanks to a special offer coupon hidden inside this week's Time Out, I got up there for just 25p. Yes, the views were great. I might get round to telling you about it later.
2) Was stunningly underimpressed by the Live Earth concert(s). Maybe that's because it was trying too hard to be too important. Maybe it's because there have been too many one-off wholly-unique life-changing global musical extravaganzas recently. Maybe it's because I've already switched over to low-energy lightbulbs. Or maybe it's because Genesis were dull, and I switched off after that.
3) Received my new SIM card through the post. I've decided to stop throwing away hundreds of pounds a year on unused mobile minutes. I'm switching to pay-as-you-go after nine years on a pay monthly contract. I should save a fortune. Now all I need is a new phone to stick it in. Any suggestions?
4) Noted a decline in visitors to this blog. Last week diamond geezer had fewer visitors than in any other week so far this year. Even the week I was in Northumberland and didn't post anything at all. That'll teach me to flag up a whole week's Olympic narrowcasting 7 days in advance.
5) Was unexpectedly overwhelmed by email spam one-liners. Has my ISP's spam filter suddenly stopped working, or is everybody else having their virility repeatedly questioned by diverse persons unknown?
6) Started up a conversation with a stranger on the tube. Unheard of I know, but we'd just had to sit though the animated antics of two "am I bovvered though?" teenagers, who'd just got off. Either they were acting up for the benefit of the rest of the carriage, or Catherine Tate's Lauren is a serious understatement.
7) Noticed that the Olympic Park gates aren't actually locked yet. They're a bunch of liars, that Olympic Delivery Authority, aren't they? I'm sure it's just a deliberate part of their eviction strategy and the gates will be shut permanently soon, but you'd think they'd be upfront about the genuine lock-in date. The last thing the Olympics needs is what looks like a slipped deadline...
8) Met up with BestMate, who's back in the country again. And might, just possibly, be here for a while. Hurrah. So forgive me if blogging output stumbles occasionally, because I shall be out having a life.
9) Walked alone across London Bridge at half past three in the morning. The bridge was very quiet. A couple of tottering girls in stilettos stumbled past. The odd half-empty nightbus sped by. Tower Bridge glittered across the Pool of London. The Thames was down, but not out. The lights of St Paul's and the City burnt brightly. Magical, and underappreciated.
10) Watched 189 cyclists going round in circles. But then I told you all about that yesterday.
