If you've ever driven around London or listened to travel news on the radio you'll know that some road junctions have special names. Some are dull, like the Bow Interchange, and others considerably more intriguing. Who or what was Charlie Brown's? (a former pub) What triggered Henlys Corner? (a car showroom) Whither Staples Corner? (a mattress factory)
So I thought I'd try to come up with a list of specially-named road junctions in London.
It's not definitive.
I've focused on single- and double-digit A roads, plus the North and South Circulars.
After the North and South Circulars it generally runs clockwise.
It's mostly derived from several pages on the SABRE website, plus the London A-Z.
If you're interested in a particular junction, SABRE is very good.
The list won't be complete, it won't be 100% correct and it wouldn't be how you'd have done it, let's take that as read.
If nothing else, read it as a series of lovely poems with a lot of road numbers inserted.
