That's the organisation that celebrates seaside piers, not a bunch of people called Piers nor fans of Piers Morgan nor any other even less likely group.
Commemorative events during 2023 include a series of nine NPS Year of the Pier Lectures (delivered online starting April 20th) and a travelling exhibition called Piers on Posters (launching April 22nd on Lowestoft Claremont Pier).
I love a good pier... waves chopping, anglers fishing, candyfloss twirling, 99s swirling, seagulls hovering, iron rusting, children shrieking, planks spanning, tides turning, pensioners promenading, funfairs spinning, boards creaking, shelters shielding, tattoos tanning, machines slotting, fortunes telling, pints pulling, horizons spreading, chips frying... and particularly the opportunity to stand out to sea and look back at the resort in all its seaside glory.
So I wondered how many UK piers I've been to.
