In a time of austerity, every penny counts. With cuts deepening and unemployment on the up, what Londoners need now is a failsafe way to save money. So I'm delighted to announce the launch of a new recession-busting service to help you live more cheaply. Welcome, one and all, to dgDeals.

dgDeals couldn't be simpler.
1) You sign up for our daily email.
2) We hunt down a deeply discounted product or service.
3) The offer is open to members for a limited period of time.
4) Once a purchase is completed, our automated system will send you an email or mobile text message containing a link to a web page on which you will find an image containing a voucher which you will need to print out on paper or display on your mobile screen and take it with you to present in person to the business of your choice at time of payment or as directed in the smallprint of the daily deal offer before the expiry date indicated on your voucher.
5) Enjoy.

With dgDeals, you're onto a winner every time. You'll salivate every time our daily email drops into your inbox, because it'll have details of a special treat you just can't live without. And we're celebrating too, because our partner organisations get to shift piles of unwanted luxury fluff no sane person would ever need but which sounds like a bargain because it has "money off" (ooh). What's not to love?

Disclaimer: One of the seven special offers, listed above, I made up. All the others, apart from the brand names, are absolutely genuine.

Confession: These daily deal services are amongst the fastest-growing sectors of the internet right now. Online brokers such as Groupon make their fortune by flogging "indulgent experiences" nobody needs to people with too much disposable cash who should know better. OK, so sometimes there's a £1 cinema ticket, and that's just dandy. But most of the time subscribers are simply signing up for account-emptying spam. I hope the bubble bursts soon.

Tomorrow's deal: More bloody cupcakes, I bet
