This is the Bow Roundabout duck.

It lives in the River Lea, but likes to walk around the skyscrapers at the tip of Stratford High Street and look at its reflection in the ground floor windows. It always comes alone. It may be lonely.
It's not always here but I have seen it on several separate occasions. It stares into one empty commercial unit and then moves on to the next, jabbing the glass with its beak and wondering who the other duck is. Elsewhere on the river several pairs of ducks can be seen swimming with their newly hatched offspring in tow, but this loner only has an illusion for company. Better luck next spring, duck.
