UK Eclipse today: An annular solar eclipse takes place this morning - starting 08:49 (BST), maximum coverage 10:01, ending 11:18. Scroll down to yesterday to read absolutely full details about the event. Up to 95% of the sun will be disappearing over Spain and North and East Africa, whereas here in the UK we'll only see a partial eclipse. The crescent disc pictured here shows the Sun as it should appear in London at 10am, weather permitting. If you see the eclipse (protect your eyes! protect your eyes!) please leave us a report in the comments box. And if it's after noon (or cloudy) and you missed out, never mind, there'll be another eclipse along in 2015...
• My report on the last UK solar eclipse, back in 2003 (which I saw and you didn't)
