They're only two months late, but Blogger have finally got round to undoing some of the damage caused by Auto-Pagination. They haven't abandoned the concept, but they have published some special code which allows those of us with Classic templates to link to "Older posts". It's quite simple code too - you just add <$BlogPaginationLinks$> and all the appropriate blog pagination links appear. Me, I've chosen a (slightly) more complex option and used new Blogger code to add some customised links at the bottom of my template...
<NewerPosts><a href=<$NewerPosts$>>Newer Posts </a></NewerPosts>
<OlderPosts><a href=<$OlderPosts$>>Older Posts </a></OlderPosts>
Which means that all of my monthly archives can now be reached if you click back far enough. Result! But why couldn't Blogger have produced this code right back at the start, rather than breaking things and then saying nothing? And I hope they'll soon get round to publicising their solution properly, rather than hiding it away in a help forum where nobody affected will ever spot it. I may still dislike Auto-Pagination, but thank goodness it's no longer a blogkiller.
