Rare Opportunity to take a Heritage Ride on the Underground
Dear Friend of London's transport,
If you've been missing travelling by train, rest assured we've been missing you far more.
While you've been locked down, shielding or working from home, we've been haemorrhaging money running services you're no longer paying for.
We need you to start giving money to us again.
Which is why we're delighted to announce the launch of Heritage Rides On The Underground, a virtual experience that's almost as good as being on board.
Ride the 1972 stock to Harrow & Wealdstone
Imagine stepping aboard the the oldest trains on the London Underground for an evocative journey back to a golden era of travel. Pneumatic traction, rheostatic braking and reciprocating compressors are still the reality on the Bakerloo, the line where the Seventies lingers on. On this unique trip we're offering the opportunity to ride classic rolling stock and reminisce with the aid of our exclusive digital tour.
Driving Motor 3258, the Graffitied Trailer and the beautifully restored Stonebridge Park Coach Set will make up the train. Carriages will otherwise be empty, apart from cardboard cutouts spaced at 2m intervals to give the appearance of social distancing. An actor dressed as Edward Heath will see off the train at Queen's Park station. Regrettably step-free access is not available.
After a spin through some of London's most middling suburbs, the journey will pause for half an hour at South Kenton station where the London Transport Friends will have a pop-up shop. Please buy as many souvenirs as your finances can support, especially the ones with brown stickers on. The train will then continue to Harrow and Wealdstone station for prompt disembarkation.
Watch all the proceedings virtually from the comfort of your own home. When you book we'll send you a one-off code allowing you to log onto our website at the correct time to watch an exclusive livestream of the ongoing journey. Our standard class video will show the view out of a grubby side window, as if you were a normal fare-paying passenger. For a driver's eye view, be sure to select the first class option.

Ride the S stock to Chesham
Join us for a classic day out and celebrate the beauty of the Chilterns as we hop aboard a vintage air conditioned train to Chesham.
Start your day virtually at Watford station, without the added hassle of actually having to go there. Then board a beautifully restored heritage train from the early 2010s, winding leisurely over the River Gade and beneath the M25. Our journey takes us through the Croxley North Tunnel, a ten-second rarity that has allowed us to add £50 to the ticket price without impunity.
At Chesham join expert guides on an exclusive YouTube tour exploring the town's rich history for at least three additional minutes. You'll then be able to enjoy free time in your own living room, exploring the lush expanses at your leisure, before watching the original video in reverse as we return to Watford.
All tickets include a fully downloadable souvenir pdf, plus a voucher for 50% discounted admission to the London Transport Museum to be used at any time during the next two weeks.
