Do join me on the aimless ramble I took yesterday.
I took a snapshot every 7 kilometres.
7 kilometres

This is Hackney Marshes, specifically the footpath across the southern part near the changing rooms. I still can't get over the fact they laid this special track and it just stops dead at the canal towpath nowhere near any of the footbridges. It's a mucky track at the moment after all this rain we've been having, but nowhere near as wet as the grass to either side, thanks in no small part to the relentless churn of football boots on a Sunday. I tried stepping off the path but my trainers just squidged. Unexpectedly a bloke on a jumped-up tricycle speeds past, grimly hanging onto his bench on wheels. A crow scans the scene from the top of a rugby post. Thames Water have been digging a monster hole beyond the cricket pitch ever since a pipe burst four months ago, with no sign yet of finishing, and use a causeway of thick wooden planks to drive their machinery in and out. A woman with an uncountable number of dogs, I think nine, wanders into the middle of the marsh before letting the better-behaved off their leads. The sun's out, the temperature's well above freezing and it may be ages until this happens again, so best make the most.

Home, mug of tea, bath running.
