When I go to Birmingham for a bloggable day trip I invariably buy my rail ticket first and decide what to do later. Last time my visit coincided with a lovely spring day so I visited a National Trust property and climbed to the highest point in the West Midlands. This time my pre-selected day dawned grey and damp so I stuck to riding up and down the Metro.
I've not yet got another trip planned but when I do go back I was wondering what's left to explore. Here's where I've been and blogged before.
I've also boomeranged out to Nuneaton, Lichfield, Cosford, Ironbridge, Much Wenlock and the Severn Valley Railway because they're all doable in a day too.
Any suggestions for future visits gratefully received.
n.b. I'm not interested in places to eat or drink, more places to go and see.
n.b. Cheap/free things usually win out over attractions that cost more than my rail ticket.
n.b. It doesn't have to be the thrillingest place in the West Midlands, given I can even get 500 words out of a random tram stop.
n.b. I'm aware I've not yet visited the Black Country Museum, so take that as read.
n.b. I can cram a lot into a day trip but don't get too adventurous.
n.b. Please check my map before suggesting something obvious.
