Today is the last day you can buy a platform ticket at your local tube station.
You likely never have, there's not much need, but today you still can. Any ticket machine will sell you one, all you have to do is choose 'By destination' from the main menu and pick 'Platform Ticket' as your destination. It'll cost you a pound.

But you can only do it today. That's because TfL are running a software update overnight and removing it from the database, so it won't be there tomorrow.
Sales of platform tickets are extremely low so it's expected hardly anyone will notice. They're also poor value for money, especially given National Rail only charge 10p for theirs. The withdrawal is because TfL want to reduce the range of magnetic tickets sold on the Underground, so killing off platform tickets is an easy first step.
Note that platform tickets are not being withdrawn at the one station where they're genuinely useful which is Southwark. Passengers here may need to pass through the station to reach Waterloo East via the internal gateline, and they'll still be able to pay for a paper ticket. But if your local tube station isn't Southwark, platform tickets are being extinguished tonight. Last chance to buy.
