20 things to do in London in May 2025
1st May: Morris Dancing in Hammersmith/Islington. You've already missed Primrose Hill/Greenwich.
1st May: IKEA opens at Oxford Circus. Come walk the flatpack maze and eat meatballs.
1st May: London May Day Rally. Up the workers from Clerkenwell Green to Trafalgar Square.
3rd-5th May: Canalway Cavalcade at Little Venice. Annual bobbing narrowboat extravaganza.
3rd-5th May: Ruislip Lido Steam Gala. Chuffing fun from Willow Lawn to Woody Bay.
5th May: VE Day procession and flypast. Old planes, more old planes and then some.
9th-11th May: Tate Modern Weekender. Celebrating 25 years with the return of Maman the spider.
10th May: Polish Heritage Festival. The UK's biggest red/white get-together in Lambton Park, Hounslow.
10th-11th May: Hampton Court Open Day. One of this year's 'see the gardens for free' weekends.
10th-18th May: The 2nd Hackney History Festival. 49 informed events including £3 walks and talks.
11th/18th May: Free entry to Dulwich Picture Gallery. Generous offer for the Dulwich Festival.
17th May: Cheam Charter Fair. Stalls, Mayoral appearances and heritage stuff. I went last year.
17th/18th May: FA Cup Final at Wembley. Saturday men, Sunday women. London v Manchester in both.
17th May: Eurovision Song Contest. Screening in every worthwhile pub and club everywhere.
18th May: Urban Village Fete. Celebrating 10 years of placemaking on the Greenwich Peninsula.
20th-24th May: Chelsea Flower Show. Come to see the special gardens. Come to be seen.
23rd-25th May: Comic Con at ExCel. Dress up and nerd out with the other characterful heroes.
29th May: Pinner Fair throngs the high street. The amazing Wednesday-only funfair. I went in 2023.
31st May: V&A East Storehouse opens its doors. First look inside the huge QEOP repository.
31st May or whatever: The amazing event I've entirely overlooked, sorry.
