For eight consecutive Februaries on diamond geezer I've kept myself busy by counting things. Ten different counts, to be precise, in a stats-tastic 28-day feature called The Count. You may therefore be delighted to hear that I intend to do exactly the same again this year. Or you may not, if you're a less numerate kind of person, in which case sorry but that's how it is. This'll be the ninth February I've spent counting things so I have lots of thrilling historical data to compare the latest figures with, which no doubt I'll bore you all with at the end of the month. Here's my selected list of ten countables for February 2011.
Count 1: Number of visits to this blog (Feb 2010 total: 30264, ↑16% on 2009) Count 2: Number of comments on this blog (Feb 2010 total: 396, ↓16%) Count 3: Number of words I wrote on this blog (Feb 2010 total: 21595, ↑5%) Count 4: How many hours each day I work/rest/play (Feb 2010: work 26%, not-work 74%) Count 5: Number of nights I go out and am vaguely sociable (Feb 2010 total: 4, ↓43%) Count 6: Number of bottles of Becks I drink (Feb 2010 total: 3, ↓25%) Count 7: Number of cups of tea I drink (Feb 2010 total: 136, ↑5%) Count 8: Number of trains I travel on (Feb 2010 total: 83, ↓19%) Count 9: Number of escalators I walk up (Feb 2010 total: 13, ↓54%) Count 10: The Mystery Count(Feb 2010 total: 0, again)
Once again I'll be using an online website called Daytum to keep track of my counts. Daytum is a real-time graphic tracker which displays numbers in a pretty way. For the next 24 hours it'll be displaying last February's totals, but then I'll set everything back to zero and start reporting this year's counts from scratch. I intend to update my counts on Daytum at least once a day until the end of the month, and then I'll come back and tell you how my February went. Stalk away.
